Oxfordshire packs a lot of variety into one county. Oxford sits at the centre where the Thames and the Cherwell meet, ringed by market towns that each face a different landscape: the Cotswold stone of the Windrush valley around Witney, the ironstone villages near Banbury in the north, the chalk downs and the White Horse above Wantage, and the Chiltern beech woods that run down to the river at Henley. The M40 and the A34 tie it together, and both carry a steady stream of events traffic every summer weekend.
Wherever the event, the service follows the same shape. We arrive in good time, cook the pig or lamb on site, carve to order and bring salads, breads, stuffing, apple sauce and gravy so it's a complete meal rather than just meat in a roll. Plenty of Oxfordshire hosts want our hog roast catering as the centrepiece; others prefer a BBQ, and many run the two together from a single set-up.

Our Oxfordshire work reaches every corner of the county, the city included. These are the places we're asked about most — each page has local notes, venue types and nearby areas we also cover.

The northern half of the county is a mix of city, garrison town and Cotswold fringe. Oxford brings college-adjacent celebrations, research and hospital teams, and family parties in Summertown and Headington gardens. Bicester has grown fast around its army garrison and the M40, with young families on its new estates. Witney looks west towards the Cotswolds and hosts a lot of barn and farm weddings, while Banbury, near the Northamptonshire and Warwickshire borders, has a strong manufacturing and logistics base alongside its villages.
South of the city the character shifts to river and downland. Abingdon and Wallingford are old Thames towns with busy community calendars; Didcot is the rail junction and the gateway to the science campuses on the edge of the downs; Wantage sits beneath the Ridgeway in the Vale of White Horse; Henley-on-Thames has its regatta summer; and Thame, close to the Buckinghamshire border, is a market town with a broad high street and a farming hinterland.
Getting in and out varies a lot. Central Oxford has bus gates, restricted streets and very little parking, so we plan city-centre events carefully. Out in the Cotswold and Chiltern fringes it's more about narrow lanes, steep farm tracks and fields that go soft after rain. We ask about access, ground conditions and parking wherever you are.
A whole pig with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce is the classic; a spit-roast lamb suits pork-free guests and summer weddings; and a BBQ gives everyone a choice. Many Oxfordshire events combine two. See our our hog roast service and lamb roast catering pages for how each is cooked and served.

Burgers, sausages, chicken, halloumi and plant-based options with salads and fries cover most tastes.
It can run alone or alongside a hog roast, which is a common pairing for big Oxfordshire weddings and staff days. The BBQ catering page explains the options and the BBQ menu shows sample packages.

Oxfordshire has a deep bench of rural wedding settings: Cotswold-stone barns west of Witney, marquees on farmland in the Vale of White Horse, riverside lawns along the Thames and country gardens in the Chiltern villages above Henley. A hog roast suits all of them. Some couples serve carved pork or whole lamb as the wedding breakfast with salads and potatoes; others keep a plated meal and bring us in for the evening, when a crackling roll is exactly what the dance floor wants.
Guest lists here are often long, with friends travelling in from London and beyond. Our wedding hog roast page sets out how we plan the day, and the wedding guide covers timings, numbers and how day and evening food can come from one roast.
Wedding hog roasts in OxfordshireThe county's employers are unusually varied. Science and technology campuses around Didcot and Harwell, the university and hospitals in Oxford, logistics sites off the M40 at Bicester and Banbury, and business parks around Abingdon and the A34 all hold staff summer days, site open days and end-of-year socials. Many of these involve big headcounts over a lunch window, which a carved-to-order roast handles well.
Large sites often want inductions, risk assessments and a clear allergen process. We'll send the paperwork in advance, agree the service window and serve vegetarian and vegan dishes separately. See corporate catering and our guide to planning a corporate BBQ.
Corporate hog roast & BBQ cateringBirthdays, anniversaries, christenings and summer parties make up a large part of our Oxfordshire diary. Village gardens often back onto fields, and many families have space for a roasting machine, a serving gazebo and a good crowd without hiring a venue. Village halls and cricket pavilions fill the gap when they don't.
In tighter city gardens or terraced streets, a BBQ set-up is more compact and still takes the cooking off your hands. Our birthday party catering and private party catering pages have menu ideas.

Around 120 day guests and 40 more in the evening. Hog roast and whole lamb for the wedding breakfast with salads and new potatoes, then rolls with crackling and apple sauce from the same roast after the speeches. A stone gateway on the farm track meant checking the trailer width well before the day.
Roughly 300 staff across a two-hour window on a campus lawn. A hog roast counter and a BBQ counter ran side by side, with a separate station for vegan and vegetarian dishes and every item labelled. Site induction and paperwork were completed the week before.
About 60 guests in a long, narrow city garden with no side access. We cooked on the driveway, carried the carved meat through to a gazebo counter at the back, and cleared away quietly at the end of the evening.
Every menu comes with the salads, sides, breads and sauces that turn a roast into a proper meal — homemade coleslaw, leaf and tomato salads, potato salad, fries or sweet potato fries, and new potatoes in cooler months. Our guide to hog roast side dishes has ideas.
Vegetarian and vegan mains are cooked separately on request and clearly labelled, and allergen information is available for every dish. Read our allergen and dietary information before booking if any guests have allergies.
We cover the whole county, from the Banbury area in the north to Henley and Wallingford on the Thames. When you enquire, send the postcode, where a van and trailer could park, and how far that is from where you'll be eating. For central Oxford, tell us about bus gates, permits and loading restrictions; for rural venues, mention gates, tracks and any steep or narrow approach.
Colleges, country venues and larger employers often have approved-supplier lists or rules on gas, open flames and generators. Send us their requirements and we'll confirm what we can meet before you book.
Send the date, postcode, rough guest numbers and the kind of food you have in mind. A few lines is plenty to start.
We'll suggest a menu, service style and timings that suit the event, and send a clear written quote. Tweak it as much as you like.
Final numbers, dietary requirements, access, parking and timings are agreed in writing ahead of the day, so there are no surprises.
We arrive early, cook everything fresh on site, serve your guests from our counter, and leave the space clean and tidy.
All of it — Oxford and its suburbs, the Cherwell towns of Banbury and Bicester, West Oxfordshire around Witney, the Vale of White Horse around Abingdon and Wantage, and South Oxfordshire including Didcot, Wallingford, Thame and Henley. Send us the postcode and we'll confirm.
Yes, with some planning. Parts of the centre have restricted access and very little parking, so we'll check the loading point, any permits needed and the distance to the serving area. Suburban gardens and sites near the ring road are much simpler.
We do. Barns and farm venues around Witney, Burford and the Windrush valley are a big part of our wedding work in the county. Some sit up narrow tracks, so we'll ask about access early.
For big headcounts we usually suggest a hog roast with a BBQ alongside, served from two points so queues stay short and there's plenty of choice for dietary needs. Our corporate catering page has more detail.
It depends on guest numbers, menu, staffing and the site, so we don't publish a fixed price. Our guide to hog roast costs explains what affects it, and quotes are free.
Send the date, postcode and rough guest numbers — we'll reply with menu ideas and a clear quote.
