Our hog roast service in Oxford
The city grew up on the gravel between two rivers, the Thames — called the Isis as it passes through — and the Cherwell, and the colleges of the university still shape its centre with their quads, gardens and meadows. Around that historic core are very different neighbourhoods: Jericho and Summertown to the north, Headington up the hill to the east with its hospitals, Cowley and its industrial heritage to the south-east, and Botley and the A34 on the western side.
Our hog roast Oxford service works across all of it. We cook the pork or lamb where the party is, carve it fresh for each guest, and bring the salads, breads, stuffing and sauces that turn it into a proper meal, with staff to serve and clear. A BBQ menu or a mixed menu is just as easy to arrange.
We cater across Oxford as part of our hog roast catering in Oxfordshire. For the full picture of how we work, see our full-service hog roasts page.
Where we cater in Oxford
Much of our city work is private: garden parties in the big Victorian houses of north Oxford, family celebrations in Headington and Marston, and street and community events in east Oxford. Research groups, hospital departments and university teams add summer socials and end-of-term gatherings, usually on lawns, sports grounds or courtyards rather than in the centre itself. Weddings tend to spill out of the city into the villages beyond the ring road.
Access is the main thing to plan. Central streets have bus gates, pedestrianised stretches and permit-only parking, and many terraced houses in Jericho and east Oxford have no side access at all. The ring road, the park-and-ride sites and wider suburban roads make everything else much easier — tell us the postcode and the route to the garden and we'll work out the rest.
- large gardens in north Oxford and Summertown
- sports grounds and college playing fields
- hospital and research campus lawns in Headington
- community centres and church halls in east Oxford
- riverside and boat club events on the Isis
- marquees in villages just outside the ring road
BBQ catering in Oxford
Our BBQ catering in Oxford runs on the same principle as the hog roast — cooked fresh in front of your guests, with none of the work landing on the host. Expect burgers, sausages, chicken and proper veggie options, plus salads, fries and every sauce you'd want.
For departmental socials where half the group is vegetarian or vegan, a BBQ with halloumi and plant-based sausages alongside a smaller hog roast is often the most sensible Oxford menu.

Events we cater in Oxford
Wedding hog roasts
Couples who meet in Oxford often marry there, but the reception usually heads out to a barn or marquee in the surrounding villages where there's space to cook. We also cater relaxed post-ceremony gatherings in city gardens for smaller weddings, with a carved roast and salads served buffet-style.
Catering for weddingsCorporate events
Oxford's employers lean towards universities, hospitals, publishing and research, and their events are often departmental rather than company-wide — a lab's summer party, a team's end-of-year lunch on a sports field. We keep dietary labelling clear, which matters for international teams, and we can work around booking rules for university and hospital grounds.
Corporate cateringBirthday & private parties
Graduation celebrations, significant birthdays and summer garden parties fill our Oxford calendar in June and July. In a narrow city garden we can cook at the front and carry food through; with more space, the roasting machine becomes the centre of the party.
Hog roasts for birthday parties · Private party cateringWhat we cook
Pork hog roast
Our pork is slow-roasted whole on site and hand-carved at the counter as guests come up. Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling are the favourite; a plated buffet works well when it's the main meal.
Hog roast menuLamb roast
Lamb works as the only roast or alongside pork. We carve it at the counter and serve it with mint sauce, herby salads and breads — a popular choice for summer weddings.
Lamb roast cateringBBQ options
Burgers, sausages and chicken for the meat-eaters, with halloumi, vegetable skewers and plant-based options cooked separately for everyone else.
BBQ packagesSides & salads
Most Oxford events pick two to four sides. Summer menus lean towards coleslaw, leaf salads, tomatoes and potato salad; evening and winter events tend to want fries, sweet potato fries or new potatoes. We bring the breads, rolls and sauces too.

Vegetarian, vegan & dietary options
Most Oxford events have guests who don't eat pork, and many have vegetarians, vegans and people with allergies. We cook meat-free dishes separately when asked, label every dish, and can build a pork-free menu around lamb or the BBQ. Our allergen information explains what we can and can't guarantee.

Hog roast FAQs for Oxford
Our house in Jericho has no side access. Can you still do a hog roast?
Often, yes. We can cook at the front of the property or in a nearby permitted spot and carry the carved meat through, or bring a more compact BBQ set-up. Send us photos or a description and we'll suggest the best approach.
Can you cater a department or lab summer party on university or hospital grounds?
Yes. These sites usually have their own rules on suppliers, gas and vehicle access, so share them with us early and we'll confirm what's needed before the booking is fixed.
Do you cover Kidlington, Botley and the villages around Oxford?
We do — Kidlington, Botley, Cumnor, Wheatley, Horspath, Kennington and the villages all round the ring road.
Can guests with dietary requirements be catered for?
Yes. Vegetarian and vegan mains are cooked separately on request and labelled, and allergen information is available for every dish. See our allergen and dietary information.
