The food that makes a summer party

Summer parties are built around being outside, and the food should be too. Our summer party catering is BBQ-led: burgers, sausages, BBQ chicken and halloumi straight off the grill, with a hog roast or lamb roast for groups who want something more substantial. It's cooked where your guests can see it, served fresh, and it suits the relaxed, drawn-out pace of a warm afternoon.

We bring the grills, the serving counter, the salads, breads and sauces, and the staff to run it. You provide the space and the guests. At the end we pack down and take our equipment and cooking waste away.

If you haven't decided between a grill and a roast, our guide to hog roast vs BBQ sets out the pros and cons of each.

Summer events we cater for

Staff summer parties that people actually turn up for

A good staff summer party gets people away from their desks and talking to colleagues they rarely see. Food does a lot of the work. A grill in the car park, a hog roast on the lawn of a business park or a BBQ at a sports ground gives the event a natural gathering point.

We cater for summer parties across offices, warehouses, laboratories and business parks, and we're used to the practicalities: site inductions, access passes, parking restrictions and service windows that fit around shifts. For a full planning walk-through, read our guide to planning a corporate BBQ, or visit our corporate catering page for the wider service.

Summer staff party formats

  • Lunchtime BBQ on site for the whole team
  • Afternoon family fun day with a hog roast
  • Evening party with rolls and drinks
  • Multi-site events with staggered serving times

Weather planning: sunshine, showers and everything between

An English summer can deliver a heatwave and a downpour in the same week, so every summer event we cater for has a plan B. We need a covered area to cook and serve under. We can often bring a gazebo; a marquee, awning or open-sided barn is even better.

In hot weather, we think about shade for the serving queue, keeping salads cool and making sure the counter isn't set up where guests will be standing in full sun. When it rains, we'll help you work out a layout that keeps the queue under cover and the grill safely positioned.

Our outdoor catering checklist covers weather planning, toilets, power, bins and the rest of the practicalities if you're running the event yourself.

What a summer party needs from you

  • A level area for grills or the hog roast machine, ideally close to vehicle access
  • A covered spot for cooking and serving if the weather turns
  • Shade or seating for guests on hot days
  • Water and drinks: arranged by you or your venue
  • Bins for guests' plates and cups, unless we've agreed to handle them
  • Final numbers and dietary requirements a week or so before

A BBQ-led menu with room for everyone

Our BBQ menu is the backbone of most summer parties: burgers, sausages, BBQ chicken, halloumi, veggie burgers and plant-based sausages, with coleslaw, potato salad, green salads, fries or sweet potato fries and a good selection of breads and sauces.

For larger groups or a bigger occasion, add a whole hog or lamb roast. Plenty of summer events run both, with the roast carved for the main meal and the grill keeping going for anyone who wants seconds. We cook and serve vegetarian and vegan items separately on request and label everything on the counter.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the event

Send the date, postcode, rough guest numbers and the kind of food you have in mind. A few lines is plenty to start.

  2. Get a tailored quote

We'll suggest a menu, service style and timings that suit the event, and send a clear written quote. Tweak it as much as you like.

  3. Confirm the details

Final numbers, dietary requirements, access, parking and timings are agreed in writing ahead of the day, so there are no surprises.

  4. We cook, serve and clear

We arrive early, cook everything fresh on site, serve your guests from our counter, and leave the space clean and tidy.

Summer party catering FAQs

How far ahead should we book for a summer party?

Weekends in June, July and early September are the busiest. For those dates, booking a few months ahead is sensible. Midweek staff parties are usually easier to fit in.

What happens if it rains on the day?

We cook and serve under cover, so we'll agree a wet-weather layout with you beforehand. As long as there's a covered area for us and somewhere dry for guests, the party can carry on.

BBQ or hog roast for a summer party?

A BBQ gives more variety and suits grazing; a hog roast is great value for larger numbers and makes a centrepiece. Many summer events have both. See hog roast vs BBQ.

Can you cater for a street party?

Yes. We'll need a safe spot for cooking away from traffic, and any road closure or permission is arranged by the organisers with the local council. We can discuss whether the organisers pay for food or residents buy their own.

Do you cater for sports club events?

Often. End-of-season parties and presentation days at cricket, football and rugby clubs are a regular part of our summer. Check with the club about any rules on external caterers.
